Summary

The author summarizes the theme of this issue through three points. First of all, population growth within poor countries is acting like an implosive force, especially in combination with environmental disasters, armed conflicts and unemployment. Secondly, the increasing number of refugees and displaced persons is producing profound inequalities. Finally, these phenomena create repercussions for host educational systems where it is necessary to ensure that the rights of the child are respected in their entirety.
