Romani Children at School: The Challenge of Integration, by Régis Alviset and Virginie Repaire

Summary

In a parking lot in Dijon, France for nomadic groups, the school Les Voyageurs has been monitoring the socio-educational integration of the children of the Romani and other nomadic groups for over a quarter of a century. It is a public school for boys and girls under the aegis of the national educational system and recognised on the same level as other public schools. The pedagogical project of this school is to strive for allowing these children to succeed through establishing the necessary link between school and the children’s native culture.
