Legal Theories : Elements of the Contemporary Debate, by Jérôme Savary

Summary

What is a just society? This is a central issue in the area of political philosophy. This issue has arisen from the fact that we have observed that our world is full of injustice. At the beginning of any debate on justice, we initially have strong feelings about the issue. First and foremost, it is unlawful acts that we have trouble accepting. These unlawful acts are repelling because they go against the intuitive principle by which justice grants each individual what is rightfully his and that equal treatment is the natural order. This project involves a debate on how we wish to build society based on defining its nature and establishing criteria which guide our collective decisions.
