Globalisation of the Imperial Culture-Young People confronted with Heroes on the Big Screen, by Diane Savard and Robert Cardotte

The winning over of the former Soviet Union to globalised capitalism removed one of the last obstacles against international culture being controlled by the American empire. Styles which are created in Hollywood or New York are invading the planet at record speed. In order to generate billions of dollars in profit, and in the so-called name of freedom of expression and human rights, the imperial culture is glossing over cultural individuality. The evolution of this imperial culture throughout the past fifteen years has brought about significant sociological changes in Quebec. The situation in Quebec allows us to imagine what is occurring on a wide scale in Europe and all the other continents.
