School Values and Social Justice, by Iza Guerra-Labelle

Summary

In this article, the author first offers an explanation on why the Brazilian school system's structure generates social and educational inequalities. In the light of her onsite experience, she then proceeds to demonstrate that educating the masses provides freedom because it fosters personal growth and social change. Behind this descriptive portrayal, an enlightening discussion comes to life on the values of the public school of today in Latin American societies.
