Conflicts over Values, by Jean Hénaire
Summary
In this article, the author examines a few aspects of the debate on universal values. The first such aspect highlights a few contradictions within the political discourse and the market economy with respect to these values. The second aspect considers the discussion on universal values from a perspective of diverging claims of cultural identity. The final aspect addresses the choice of school values upon which the shadow of economism as well as one-track thinking overhangs.
