Schools and Democratic Values, by Véronique Truchot

Summary

The author sheds light on the mission of schools in their role as training responsible citizens who are capable of good judgement and are equipped with a critical mind to make sound choices based on democratic values. The author also identifies obstacles against which education for citizenship and for a diverse and inclusive democracy are confronted. The analysis of these barriers should allow the reader to extrapolate possible courses of action in order for school institutions to participate in creating a more just society.
