Learning to Coexist, by Françoise Lorcerie

Learning to “coexist" is learning to cooperate with someone of a different background and developing feelings of understanding and sympathy toward this someone with whom we share the present. It is also learning to embark on projects in collaboration with different peoples.

Schools are certainly not the only institution responsible for transmitting these skills. But in our modern societies, it is true that they are entrusted with carrying out this mission because schools are viewed as a template of civil and political society. They are in charge of ensuring the continuity of society all the while making sure that it continues to renew itself.
