Culture, Community and Continuity, by Wole Soyinka

The following text is divided into two parts. The first is a transcription of the presentation by Wole Soyinka, who also won the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature. This presentation was made during the inaugural debate which marked the opening on 6 July 1998 of the 16th International Session on Training for Human Rights and Peace Education organised by CIFEDHOP at the United Nations Office in Geneva. The second is a summary of the discussion that transpired between the audience and W. Woyinka. The French translation is by Étienne Galle. Adapted by Jean Hénaire.
