The Right to Education : Discourse and Reality, by Jean Hénaire

Summary

A glimmer of hope, the World Conference in Jomtien in 1990 reflected the desire to provide education for everyone by the year 2000. However, this commitment was unable to be met, and the deadline was postponed to 2015. The question now is whether we will be able to satisfy all favourable conditions in order to bring this ambitious desire to fruition. An understanding of the right to education and the difficulties preventing its implementation in full on a worldwide scale can help us make the remaining efforts to assure its universality.
