TRAINING ACTIVITIES

The Annual International Session

For the past twenty five years, CIFEDHOP has organised an annual international training session for teachers from primary, secondary and vocational schools and for specialists in the field of human rights education. Each year, these sessions enable about 80 teachers from some 40 countries to deepen and improve their knowledge and educational methods in the field of human rights.

External Training Sessions

For the past fifteen years, in collaboration with Ministries of Education, Human Rights Institutions, NGOs and other partners from the world of education, CIFEDHOP has organised regional and national training sessions in Africa, , North America, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe and in the Arab world. Articles and reports resulting from these sessions are published in the Thematic and Regional Perspectives Collection. In addition, an analysis of the theme of the international session is published in the CIFEDHOP Dossier (in french).

Training Methods

CIFEDHOP consists of an international educational team whose members come from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Arab world, which provides courses during the training sessions. Each session includes a “terms and concepts” aspect, relating to human rights. This juridical training of teachers is given by specialists in international human rights law. In addition, researchers and experts from different fields offer their expertise during the training sessions. As the analysis of sociopolitical issues is an important component in the process of political socialisation, each session addresses a theme of one of the major challenges of our time. Finally, the participants are given educational approaches and methods in order to structure their particular educational plans.
